ANTARCTICA

Antarctica is the most southerly landmass located about the Geographic South Pole. Antarctica has no permanent population. The only minor settlements are research stations which are served as bases for scientific research.
Such research and the continent as a whole is subject to the Antarctic Treaty of 1959 which does not recognise individual land claims and protects the continent in the interests of international scientific cooperation.

SOUTH AFRICA (REPUBLIC OF)

Republic of South Africa is the southern most African country. It has three capitals; Cape Town is the legislative capital, Pretoria (Tshwane) is the administrative capital and Bloemfontein is the judicial capital. It has a polulation of around 48 million whose main languages are Africaans, English plus nine official local languages which are IsiNdebele, IsiXhosa, IsiZulu, Sesotho sa Leboa, Sesotho, Setswana, siSwati, Tshivenda and Xitsonga. In additional to these 11 languages there are also a few Indigenous creoles and pidgins (unofficial languages) including Tsotsi taal and Fanagalo.
