If you have witnessed a crime you may need help to cope with the procedures and what will be expected of you when attending court. This help and advice is known as 'Witness Support'. There are official organisations throughout the British Isles who can offer help in areas such as:
- information about what to expect in court, including a chance to see the court beforehand and learn about court procedures
- someone to go with you into the courtroom if you want, to help you feel more at-ease
- a listening ear for your anxieties/concerns
- a quiet place to wait before and during the hearing
