Victim Support Northern Ireland

Victim Support Northern Ireland

Victim Support Northern Ireland is the charity which helps people affected by any type of crime. We provide emotional support, information and practical help to victims, witnesses and others affected by crime.

Rape Crisis
The Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Centre has been providing FREE OF CHARGE confidential counselling, advice and advocacy services to survivors of sexual violence and abuse and those who support them since 1982.
The Rape Crisis & Sexual Abuse Centre was the first voluntary organisation in Northern Ireland to provide services for adult women who had been subjected to rape or other forms of sexual violence and assault and to adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Male Rape
The Rape Crisis and Sexual Abuse Centre can also offer advice to men and boys who have been a victim of rape. It had been hoped that over the years men would eventually set up services to deal with sexual violence and abuse against males although this unfortunately has not happened. Our decision to offer the same services to men and women was taken on purely humanitarian grounds. We will continue to provide help to males as far as our resources permit, but we are hopeful that a specific organization may be set up and we are anxious to hear from any men who would like to help to do so

Domestic Violence Victims - Women & Children (Refuge)
Refuge believe that every woman and child experiencing domestic violence has different needs and there is no single package of services to meet those needs.
Refuge offers a range of services which gives women and children access to professional support whatever their situation.

Domestic Violence Victims - Women (Woman's Aid Federation Northern Ireland)
Women's Aid is the lead voluntary organisation challenging domestic violence in Northern Ireland.  We strive to create a safe and supportive society for women, children and young people affected by domestic violence. Women’s Aid provides refuge and emotional support to women and their dependent children suffering from mental or physical harassment within the home.  We encourage women to determine their own future, whether this involves returning home or beginning an independent life.   We educate and inform the public, media, police, courts, social services and other authorities, always mindful that victims of domestic violence are a direct result of the general position of women in our society.
National Centre for Domestic Violence - Men & Woman
The National Centre for Domestic Violence (NCDV) provides a free, fast emergency service to survivors of domestic violence regardless of their financial circumstances, race, gender or sexual orientation.

Emotional Support
Samaritans is a confidential emotional support service for anyone in the UK and Ireland. The service is available 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which may lead to suicide.
